National level QOF tables

The following national level table of information relating to QOF clinical indicators was added to this web page in January 2009. It is the same as the above national level clinical table, but has an extra column on each sheet of the workbook, containing exception reporting rates alongside each clinical indicator code.

Prevalence

Prevelance rates in the following table are based on QOF clinical registers and whole practice list sizes.

NHS organisations that are reviewing the approach to prevalence adjustments within the QOF may require additional information in respect of QOF register figures that underpin depression indicators and smoking indicators - these are not included in the above set of prevalence tables. Additionally, NHS organsiations may be interested in register figures underpinning the heart failure indicator group - the main heart failure prevalence figures are shown in the above tables, but not the registers for 'heart failure due to LVD'.

This additional information relating to QOF prevalence adjustments is presented in the following three tables, each of which contains important definitional notes (note that the Depression file was updated in April 2009, after a problem was noted in the sheet for Depression1):

For five clinical areas, the QOF registers are based on patients within specific age groups.

Diabetes registers are based on patients aged 17 and over; epilepsy, chronic kidney disease and learning disabilities registers are based on patients aged 18 and over; and obesity registers are based on patients aged 16 and over.

Estimates of prevalence rates for these five clinical areas have been calculated in respect of practice list sizes for the appropriate age groups in the following table.
