Find public health data on the NHS IC's Indicator Portal

What is the Indicator Portal?

The NHS IC's Indicator Portal is a website that brings a range of health and social care indicator collections together in one place. It contains all the indicators that were previously on the Clinical and Health Outcomes Knowledge Base, also known as NCHOD, and the Local Basket of Inequalities Indicators, alongside a range of other health indicators.

Why do we have the Indicator Portal?

There currently a large number of health and social care indicator collections available from a broad range of online sources. The Indicator Portal was devised to provide access to a growing number of these collections in a format that is easy-to-use, convenient and comprehensive.

What is in the Indicator Portal?

The following public health indicator collections are currently available in the NHS IC Indicator Portal:

Compendium of Population Health Indicators

A wide-ranging collection of over 300 indicators designed to provide a comprehensive overview of population health at a national, regional and local level. These indicators were previously available on the Clinical and Health Outcomes Knowledge Base website (also known as NCHOD).

Local Basket of Inequalities Indicators (LBOI)

This collection of 60 indicators helps organisations to measure health and other factors which influence health inequalities such as unemployment, poverty, crime and education. These indicators were previously available on the London Health Observatory website.
