New or changed collections

If you are planning a new collection or changing an existing one, you should ensure that:

• the policy minister responsible for the business area is in agreement
• the collection monitors progress against local delivery plans and covers the national targets in the planning framework
• the information required is not already available to the Department of Health
• the collection tool is appropriate and well designed
• the burden of the collection matches the relevance of the information required.
• the proposal meets government criteria. See gaining approval page for more information.

Discontinued collections

If you wish to stop any existing collections (in whole or in part), you should also ensure that:

• the policy minister responsible for the business area is in agreement
• the collection is not required to monitor progress against the national targets in the planning framework.
