A number of working groups are in place to provide governance for The IC's work on social care.

Papers are published two weeks prior to each meeting, and there is a full archive of papers from previous meetings.

The processes carried out by the groups above apply to current social care collections. The IC is also carrying out a major piece of work to create more resilient and responsive social care collections fit for the future.

Outcomes and Information Development Board (OIDB)

The Outcomes and Information Development programme has been established to oversee a strategic approach, and provide a governance structure, to the way in which information and outcomes are used to support planning, commissioning and delivery of adult care and support services. The secretariat for this group is provided by the Department of Health (DH).

Adult Review Group (ARG)

Reviews and develops statistics on services for adults, to ensure that they are robust, relevant and fit for purpose. Usually meets quarterly.

Social Services User Survey Group (SSUSG)

Oversees a programme of user experience surveys for social services, developing their content and advising on the methodology.

PSS EX1 Working Group

Discusses changes to the Personal Social Services Expenditure return (PSSEX1). This return is joint-managed by The IC and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).

Strategic Information Group for Adult Social Care (SIGASC)

The Strategic Information Group for Adult Social Care (SIGASC) last met in October 2009. It has now been superseded by the Outcomes and Information Development Board (OIDB) whose role includes providing overall governance for social care collections, including recommending what information should be collected and how best to gather it. Before October 2006, SIGASC was known as the Technical Working Group for Personal Social Services (TWG).
