Background to the collection
The Sexual and Reproductive Health Activity Dataset (SRHAD) came into effect on 01 April 2010. It consists of anonymised patient-level data collected on a quarterly basis.
Clinics without an IT system to record and extract SRHAD data items will continue to submit a KT31 until they are able to do so.
Clinics with IT systems capable of recording SRHAD are required to submit this on a quarterly basis.
The SRHAD extract is submitted to the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC), previously known as The NHS Information Centre (NHSIC) via Data Depot, which is a secure file transfer tool. Further information will be provided to contacts upon notification that they are in a position to start submitting a SRHAD return.
The SRHAD dataset provides more detailed data about contraception and sexual health, which can be used for a range of users needs as well as for national reporting, and we expect clinics to work towards submitting SRHAD as soon as they are able to. The KT31 data collection will continue until all clinics are in a position to submit SRHAD data.

Launch and submission dates
SRHAD data extracts will be run quarterly by the SRH service, 6 weeks after the end of the quarter (financial).
