National Diabetes Information Service
2.2 million people in the UK are currently diagnosed with diabetes, and the prevalence is increasing. A near tripling of cases in the past 30 years makes diabetes one of the biggest costs and challenges facing the NHS.
What is the National Diabetes Information Service (NDIS)?
It provides support to the NHS through streamlined access to a comprehensive suite of diabetes information products, datasets and tools via one web portal. NDIS provides health commissioners, providers and people with diabetes with the necessary information to aid decision-making and improve services at a local and national level.
Who's involved?
Collaborative working between partner organisations is one of the main objectives of NDIS. Sharing knowledge and best practice has proved valuable, as has providing one point of access to all our respective organisations' tools and information. The organisations involved in NDIS include:
NDIS is hosted by the Yorkshire and Humber Public Health Observatory.
- The NHS Information Centre
- NHS Diabetes
- Yorkshire and Humber Public Health Observatory
- Diabetes UK
- Innove
