Getting started

The more people who take part in the heart disease audits, the more valuable the results will be. Some of the heart disease audits already have one hundred per cent participation from hospitals in England and Wales. Our aim is to get total participation for the all the heart disease audits.

Audit information is housed in the Central Cardiac Audit Database (CCAD), which was set up in 1996 to bring a number of on-going data collection projects in cardiac medicine under one roof. CCAD uses NHSnet, Internet technology and IBM Lotus Notes to collect data centrally and deliver online reporting.

You can participate in the audit either by directly entering your data into CCAD or by importing files that have been created using other clinical database systems.
