Extension of the MBR audit for a further 6 months until 31st March 2009
We are delighted to announce that the audit has been extended for a further six months, until March 31st 2009. The opportunity to collect more data will both strengthen the audit and ensure that the results are truly representative of current practice. Participating hospitals will have a further six weeks (until May 14th 2009) to finish entering the data they have collected.

Breast cancer services must meet challenge of increased incidence, says mastectomy world-first audit

Only 11 per cent of women with breast cancer are getting access to reconstruction surgery at the time of their mastectomy, far less than the 100 per cent target recommended by National Institute for health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines in 2002*.

National Mastectomy and Breast Reconstruction Audit has commenced
The organisational audit for the National mastectomy and breast reconstruction audit has commenced. The organisation questionnaires have so far been sent to the Chief Executives of Private hospitals and Medical Directors at plastic surgery units. A questionnaire for Breast Surgery units will be sent out over the next few weeks.
