Getting started
Register
To register for the Open Exeter system complete the Bowel Data User Certificate.
This application will give you access to the audit, the security of which is controlled by Open Exeter. Open Exeter is a secure login service giving access to NHS information. One form is required for each organisation.
You will be asked to name a primary contact at your organisation who will receive user IDs and passwords for all identified users (e.g. clinical audit facilitator, IT facilitator, bowel cancer data nurse etc). There is no limit on the number of users. However, authorisation from a Caldicott Guardian is required.
Guidance for Caldicott Guardians on national clinical audits can be found on the Healthcare Commission website.
Distribute user IDs and passwords
Once your registration form is received, the authorisation team will verify the Caldicott Guardian's signature. Assuming your application is approved, your primary contact will receive user IDs and passwords that they will need to distribute to the named users. The lead time is approximately two weeks.
Passwords can be reset up to 14 months since their last use. To reset your password or for any queries relating to registration or use of the data collection system, please call Open Exeter on 01392 251289.
Log-in to the System
After receiving your ID and passwords, login to Open Exeter via https://nww.openexeter.nhs.uk/nhsia/index.jsp
Enter your user identity and password. Then click log in.
