Mental Health Act Statistics consultation

This consultation closed on Friday 20 April 2012.

Introduction

Thank you for your interest in this consultation. We are seeking your views on the national statistics publication ‘Inpatients formally detained under the Mental Health Act 1983, and patients subject to Supervised Community Treatment, Annual figures'.

A consultation is particularly important now because a change of data source for this publication has been proposed that would potentially make further relevant data available for analysis, we are looking for your views on what this may contain.

The Mental Health Minimum Data Set (MHMDS) has been identified as a source for national statistics about the use of the Mental Health Act in the future, and it is proposed that this will eventually replace the KP90 collection as the source of statistics for this publication. The MHMDS is a rich data source and makes possible several new dimensions for these statistics.

All questions are optional but the more information you provide the more of your feedback we will be able to consider for incorporation into future iterations of our mental health act statistics.
