Introduction and background
Community Services represent 10% of the National Health Service annual spend, a total yearly investment of more than £10 billion, yet a common understanding of the Community landscape – vital if the goals outlined by the White Paper 'Our health, our care, our say: a new direction for Community Services' are to be monitored and met, remains unclear.
The key to improving Community Services is the availability of information in the form of locally and nationally comparable data, to inform commissioning decisions and the management of services, which is the purpose of the Community Information Programme (CIP), supporting the DH 'Transforming Community Services' plan.
The following links you two the three key areas of work within the programme, providing you with all the relevant resources to implement these services, some of which are due to be nationally mandated.
