Internet privacy notice
This Privacy Notice tells you what to expect when the NHS Information Centre (NHS IC) collects personal information.
It applies to information about:
- Handling your enquiries
- Personalising your experience of our website and services

Our Privacy Notice only relates to information that we obtain from you. If you visit a website operated by a third party through a link included on this website your information may be used differently by the operator of the linked website. Information captured by our website
1. Personal information
By giving the NHS IC your details, you give your consent that your personal information may be processed for the purposes necessary to conduct and improve our services. When collecting your personal information we will explain what we intend to do with it.
2. Other information
If you do nothing other than read pages or download information, we will capture and store information about your visit. This information will not identify you, it relates to:
- The internet domain (e.g. www.bbc.co.uk) and IP address from which you access the website
- The type of browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox etc) and operating system you use (Windows, Mac OS, UNIX)
- The date and time of your visit
- The pages you visit
- The address of the web site from which you linked to us (if applicable)
What do we use the information for?
We use this information to make each visit more rewarding and to provide us with information to help improve our service. We do not know (and do not want to know) the identities of people who visit us in this way.
Receiving communications from the NHS IC
If you do not wish to receive any information from us please let us know at the point you first contact us or by writing to us at the address below.
If you already receive correspondence from the NHS IC and want this to cease, then please contact us and let us know what you wish to unsubscribe from. Please email enquiries@ic.nhs.uk stating ‘unsubscribe' in the subject line. This will ensure that your details are removed from any tools/products you have registered for and stop any communications updates.
